Safe and Courteous Service - Customer Guidelines for riding Southern Iowa Trolley
All passengers must have seat belt, child car seat or wheelchair restraints in use while the vehicle is moving.
- Please do not tamper with vehicle and/or transit equipment, as it may be needed to help you someday.
- Pets must be in a proper carrier. Service animals are exempt as they are not considered pets.
- Do not pet guide dogs or other service animals without the permissions of the owner.
- Reasonable hygiene is expected so as to not cause an adverse effect on S.I.T.'s ability to provide an acceptable service for the public.
- Please use courtesy with the driver and other passengers. No loud, rude, or profane language will be permitted.
- No use of tobacco, alcohol and/or possession of illegal drugs allowed on the bus
- Food and drinks must be in a closed spill-proof container. Refrain from eating on the bus, unless medically necessary.
- Children must be accompanied or have a current Child Ridership Form signed and on file in S.I.T. Dispatch office.
- Fighting, throwing things, pushing, shouting, spitting, vulgar language, lewd or inappropriate behavior, and vandalism are prohibited on the bus.
- Your hands and any personal objects are to be kept to yourself.
- For the safety of all riders, please wait until the driver has stopped driving to ask questions.
- Aisles are to be kept clear of any obstacles (strollers, packages, etc. must be kept under the seats).
- Please understand we must accommodate all riders, some bags may be limited.
- Reasonable accommodations may be available upon request.
- Southern Iowa Trolley reserves the right to refuse service for violation of policy.
Failure to comply with the above expectations may result in appropriate legal and/or disciplinary actions, including suspension from using Southern Iowa Trolley services. For more information on S.I.T.'s service policies, click here.
TITLE VI
The Southern Iowa Trolley operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, and national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), Southern Iowa Trolley will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs or activities.
The US DOT issued a final Rule under the American Disability Act (ADA) and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 which took effect on July 13, 2015. Per this final rule, Southern Iowa Trolley is required to make reasonable modifications or accommodations to our policies and practices to ensure individuals with disabilities have equal access to Southern Iowa Trolley's transit programs and services. The ADA does not require S.I.T. to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services.
